'If It's Football, It's Vital'

RUFC - Holmes 'it's early days'

Rotherham United's Peter Holmes has told the Millers fans not to panic at the teams stop-start to the season.

Twenty-six year old Holmes told The Advertiser that there is ample time to turn the season round, 'There's no need to panic yet. Yes, we'd like to be higher up the league with more points but so would most teams. We need to start picking up three points instead of one here and there. It's not championship form at the moment, but it's early days and we hope we can kick on.

'We need to have a long hard look at ourselves and have good periods of the game for longer - games are ninety minutes and there is not good being good for thirty minutes and bad for sixty - a lot can happen in that sixty minutes.

'We're not scoring freely at the moment. We are getting one goal and thinking that's enough. We have to start to put two or three goals together and people need to start taking a bit more responsibility and that includes me. They need to start looking at themselves instead of everyone else.'

Holmes, who's own form has dipped a little, sat out the mid-week game after playing, last Saturday, with pain killing injections because of a recurring toe problem. Manager, Mark Robins thinks prolonged rest might resolve the problem and that Holmes might come back stronger and fitter.

Yep! Heard various reports - some say he will be OK for tomorrow, but the one I went with was that the manager says he may be rested for some time - but, who knows in football?
