'If It's Football, It's Vital'

RUFC - Robins Post Grimsby

Rotherham United went out of the Johnstone's Paint Trophy on penalties last night, but manager, Mark Robins told the Official Site that the game 'should have been put to bed at half time.'

'We came out for the second half and never got going - again,' Robins said. 'I don't know whether this is becoming a mental thing.

'In the first half our two centre midfielders were running the game and Peter Holmes came back showing no ill effects from his recent injury, he was lively and was unlucky not to score.

'We had a couple of lads making their debuts and I was pleased with them, although there was a few lapses in concentration. Marc Newsham was buzzing. Jamie Yates had an outstanding first half but he tired later on. Chris O'Grady scored a great goal.

'But the second half needs looking at. Inexperience showed a little towards the end an we were caught ball watching.

'Generally, I thought it was a pleasing performance. We were trying to get a balance and that was difficult as we had to play six regulars but some of the lads got invaluable experience. It was unfortunate that we went out of penalites because it is a lottery.

'The players are very disappointed.'
