RUFC - Newsham on his first goal

Rotherham United striker, Marc Newsham has told MillersWorld today that he was 'pleased' to get his first senior goal for the Millers on Saturday in the win over Mansfield.

'I was stood in the area and the ball went over my head,' the twenty year old said, 'and I knew big Derek Holmes would head it back. I got in front of the defender and luckily the ball fell for me and I put it in the back of the net.

'The gaffer has given me a chance, after I've been scoring in the Reserves, and I'm grateful for that. It has been frustrating sat on the bench and we shall have to see what the next few games bring.

'My main target for the season is to stake a claim in the first team and stay there - then I'm certain the goals will come. I'd like to get into double figures and that will prove I've had a decentish season.'
