RUFC - Ex Miller to play on Saturday

Rotherham United play Morecambe on Saturday and an ex Rotherham lad, David Artell
will be returning to Millmoor for the first time since he left five years ago.

Artell, twenty-six, made his debut for the Millers in 1998 before becoming established in the team a couple of seasons after.

'I owe Rotherham and Ronnie Moore a lot,' he told The Visitor,'because it was there I started my playing career, and we won promotion in two seasons when I was there.

'It was a bit of a shock when I was let go but, as you get older you realise that these things happen in football.

'My Dad still attends every game at Millmoor and works for the club on matchdays. It will be strange for him on Saturday as it's the first time I've been back.'

After leaving Rotherham for Shrewsbury in 2002, Artell has also played for Mansfield and Chester, before joining Morecambe in the summer, where he is becoming a firm favourite with the fans.

'I seem to be coming up against former clubs every couple of weeks at the moment,' he said, 'but it doesn't really matter who we play. But I did love playing at Rotherham, it is my home team and I shall always follow the club.'
