'If It's Football, It's Vital'

RUFC - Yates post Morecambe

Rotherham United's young forward Jamie Yates sounded excited after today's game and rightly so, after scoring his first goals for the Millers in their three-one win at home to Morecambe.

Eighteen year old Yates told Radio Sheffield that he couldn't describe how he felt after getting two goals, 'It was unbelievable,' he said, 'I looked up and all the Tivoli were jumping for joy. The feeling is undescribable! When I saw the ball go in the back of the net I was on cloud nine! When Ryan Cresswell came on he changed the game and I managed to get onto some of his flick on's.

'I've got a lot to thank my dad for, who was sat in the stand today, and the gaffer as well. He's put a lot of faith in me and took me under his wing in the Youth team and made me captain. And when I saw that second goal go in the back of the net I was glad that I have started to repay him. Marc Newsham and I came through the Youth team together and we play well together on the field as well as being good friends off the field too. He was delighted for me today like I was for him when he scored his first goal.

'The spirit is fantastic and we will be buzzing in training next week.

'I can't wait for next week now but it will be another tough game with Dagenham and Redbridge just coming up. But, if we play like we did in the second half today I think we will be up there at the end of the season.'

When he was asked how he was going to celebrate tonight he said 'the first thing I'm going to do is go and see my dad and talk the game through with him.'
