'If It's Football, It's Vital'

RUFC - Mark Hudson

Rotherham United manager, Mark Robins, brought on midfielder Mark Hudson as a substitute on Saturday for his first action in first team football since he got an injury in the pre season friendlies in the summer.

Hudson, twenty-seven tomorrow, has been talking to Millersworld today and says he had no adverse effects to his injury after Saturday's game.

'I'm not up to peak fitness yet,' he said, 'but I can only get better the more games I play.

'When the gaffer brought me on on Saturday, it was to add a bit of sparkle and energy to the side. He wanted me to run about a bit and get on the ball and pass the ball about. He changed the formation and it seemed to lift the whole team. We'd been a bit sloppy in the first half and not performing like we wanted. They were a tough side to crack and the substitutions paid off.

'Personally I was delighted to get back on the pitch - it was eight or nine weeks since I got injured.

'I think we can get promotion. We've not been playing as good as we can do and I think we need to be scoring more goals but a good run of three or four games and that could get us into the play-off positions.'
