'If It's Football, It's Vital'

RUFC - Paul Hurst

Rotherham United's diminutive defender, Paul Hurst told RotherFM that he never believed he'd get the chance to equal Danny Williams appearance record. But, tonight, if he's picked, the thirty-three year old will do just that.

'It's exciting,' Hursty said today, 'When I think back to my first couple of games it seems a long time ago but really it's passed very quickly.

'It's nice to get some attention. Being a left back you aren't in the limelight as much as the goal scorers.

'I want to get through the cup game tonight and get to the next round and then maybe tomorrow afternoon I'll have a bit of time to think about it all.'

Hursty played his first game for the Millers in the 1993/94 season and although it took some time before he was classed as an automatic choice he stuck around Millmoor, the only club he's ever been at.

In my opinion, when he has played this season he has probably played some of the best football I've seen him play and I hope he gets to play tonight to equal the record.

Yes, he certainly has got better as the years have passed. Peaking when he breaks the record, that will be one to remember!!

What a poor poor result for the millers tonight. Heard you were totally out-played and deserve to lose?
