'If It's Football, It's Vital'

RUFC - Ross 'keen to do my best'

Rotherham United's latest recruit, midfielder Ian Ross has asked manager, Mark Robins to give him a chance and he will do his best for the club.

Ross, twenty-one, is on loan at Millmoor from neighbours Sheffield United, until January but so far has been unable to get in the first team.

'I want a chance to prove to the club, the gaffer and the fans how good I am,' he told The Advertiser. 'I have been playing at the back but I am more a creative midfielder and I like to drive the team forward.'

As the Millers have been playing so well in the League, Ross has found himself doing what he was doing at Bramall Lane, waiting in the wings. But, after the Cup defeat on Tuesday there may be a glimmer of hope for the Sheffield United fan.

He sees this loan deal as a view to a permanent move to Millmoor but Ross still has hope that Bryan Robson will see him and whisk him back to the Lane to play for his boyhood favourites.

'There's a lot of good players at Sheffield but I believe I'm good enough to play in the first team there.'

Of Rotherham United he said, 'There's a few good young players here and as soon as I came I warmed to the place.'

Well, if Ian Ross is as good as he thinks he is let's hope he's not warming the bench for much longer.

It's going to be hard to break into a winning team though.

Yes, it is and I feel a bit sorry for him but the gaffer did actually tell him he couldn't guarantee him a place in the starting eleven
