'If It's Football, It's Vital'

RUFC - Bah Humbug!

Rotherham United manager, Mark Robins has been in the game long enough to realise the sacrifices professional footballers have to make around Christmas.

But, he has told his players they will still be needed on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day for training ahead of the Boxing Day fixture at Darlington

Speaking to The Advertiser, Robins said he has told his players that they are in a privileged occupation and thinks it's a small sacrifice to be working over the Christmas period.

'A lot of people would love to be professional footballers,' Robins said, 'and training over Christmas.'

Looking forward to the Boxing Day game Robins said, 'Darlington are a physical side and it will be a tough game for us. But, all games are winnable in this league.

'We are looking at having a good Christmas and then we'll come out into, what on paper, looks like being a tough January and February.'

It must be tough on the players families - although, I suppose they have never known anything else
