'If It's Football, It's Vital'

RUFC - Ian Ross

Rotherham United loaned Ian Ross from Sheffield United six weeks ago with no guarantee that he would make the first team, but, because Mark Hudson was ill last Saturday, he was finally drafted in for his first start for the Millers.

Speaking to MillersWorld on Christmas Eve he admitted that he's felt a bit frustrated but was pleased to get a start.

'When you go out on loan you want to play,' he said, 'and I wasn't even making the squad. But, I've been patient and got my chance and I think I did alright. I had a few passes go astray but that's going to happen. I was pleased with my energy but the main thing is that the team got a win.

'There's a lot of games coming up and I think some of the players who have been playing consistently could get a bit tired, but I've only played a couple of reserve games so I should be OK.'

Talking about how he plays he said, 'I work a lot on set pieces, I like to play quickly and I like to get on the ball and spread the play.'

With doubts over Mark Hudson, Danny Harrison, Paul Hurst and Peter Holmes, Ian could well get his second start tomorrow at Darlington.
