'If It's Football, It's Vital'

RUFC - Robins on 'Keeper

Rotherham United this week brought in Richard O'Donnell on a three month loan deal from neighbours Sheffield Wednesday, as cover for first team goalkeeper, Andy Warrington.

Manager, Mark Robins, has been speaking to The Star about the decision, 'We had an arrangement with Sheffield Wednesday regarding Richard,' he said, 'and they have been good enough to loan him to us.

'He will get some good experience with us and no doubt, at some point, he will be called on. He will be on our bench and this will add to his experience. He is going to be a really good 'keeper.

'Andy Warrington has been outstanding for us so far this season and hopefully will continue but if Richard is required he will be capable of doing the job.'

The manager went on to explain why he hasn't called on Youth 'keeper, Mark Oxley, 'We feel it's a bit early for him in his development. He's just getting used to full time football and we don't want to rush him. The intensity of first team training is different to what he's been used to.'
