'If It's Football, It's Vital'

RUFC - Robins on the fans

Rotherham United's game on Saturday was well publicised as United Rotherham Day and the people of Rotherham came to Millmoor in their droves to show the town are united in a bid for a new stadium.

Speaking to The Star, manager, Mark Robins, said, 'It was a great response and a show of solidarity and it shows the Council that the people of the town want a new stadium.

'It was great having a full ground and I believe that a new stadium will bring a lot more people. Better facilities will attract people and that includes away supporters too.'

The Millers fans had all but a quarter of the available ground and Robins said that our own fans in the Railway End, which is usually kept for away support, made a difference, 'They were brilliant and there was a lot more vocal support. I hope the people who came will come back again for the rest of the season.

'We are trying to do our bit on the pitch and just hope that things can happen off it and there is a chance of moving the club forward. It would open up a possibilities of new investment and be the lifeblood of the football club for years to come.'

Commercial Manager, Tony Styles spoke to RotherFM and said, 'Let's hope we can keep the momentum going - it's happening on the pitch so let's get this club moving forward and in three years or so we could be playing in a shiny new home.'
