RUFC - Ref Watch v Chester

MR TONY BATES FROM STAFFORDSHIRE

Tony is one of the most experianced Refs on the circuit, and was promoted onto the National list at the start of season 1996-1997.
Born on 26th of October 1961, he spent three season's as a Football League Assistant Referee where he clocked up 3 notable games during 1995-1996.
Firstly he assisted Dermot Gallagher in the 1995 Charity Shield at Wembley between Everton and Blackburn.
This was followed by the 1996 FA Cup final assistant Referee job between Liverpool and Man United, once again running the line for Gallagher.
Finally to round off a memorable season he aided David Elleray at the Euro 1996 group game between eventual finalists Germany and the Czech Republic at Old Trafford.

So far this season Tony has taken charge of 21 games, showing 53 yellows (2.52 per game) and just 2 reds.
The last red was shown to Dagenham's veteran Keeper Tony Roberts in their 5-2 FA Cup 3rd round game at Roots Hall against Southend.
With just 3 minutes left on the clock and the score at 3-2, Roberts went upfield for a corner and throwing himself at an header he appeared to Head-butt Southend's Peter Clark and Tony Bates showed him a straight red for violent conduct.

Tony's most recent games officiating at Rotherham matches were as follows:
28/02/2004 West Brom 0 Rotherham 1.....1 yellow
19/03/2005 Rotherham 0 QPR 1........6 yellows
14/02/2006 Rotherham 2 Bournemouth 0.....3 yellows

He will be assisted at Chester by:
