MICHAEL J JONES from CHESHIRE

Michael began refereeing in 1983 and progressed through the Cheshire and District League to the Football League Assistant Referee's list in 1992 and the National Referee's list 4 years later.
He was 4th official for the 2004 Carling Cup Final between Middlesborough and Bolton at the Millenium Stadium, Cardiff, and also took charge of the 2004 LDV Trophy area Final between Blackpool and Sheffield Wednesday.

So far this season he has officiated at 28 games, showing 95 yellows (3.39 per game) and handing out 5 red cards.

The most recent Rotherham games he has taken charge of were a 3-1 home defeat to Gillingham in March 2005 in which he showed no cards at all.
The 1-0 defeat at West Ham in September 2004 where just 1 yellow was shown.
However, the game he will be remembered for most by Millers fans was the infamous 4-4 draw with Norwich in January 2004.
Division 1 leaders Norwich City were being held 2-2 after 44 minutes at Millmoor but then the Referee took over.
Firstly he booked Millers forward Martin Butler for dissent, before another yellow followed for Rotherham winger Chris Sedgewick for Unsporting behaviour, and then all hell let loose.
Shaun Barker coneded a penalty during stoppage time at the end of the first half after a very dubious 'fall' by Canaries prima donna, Darren Huckerby.
Huckerby stood up to put Norwich 3-2 up with the resulting spot-kick and Millers defender Guy Branston and Manager Ronnie Moore were both sent off following a skirmish down by the tunnel brought on by the penalty incident.

Huckerby still makes my blood boil everytime i see him play. after that Norwich game. Straight in front of the Tivoli it happened as well....grrrr
