'If It's Football, It's Vital'

RUFC - Robins 'I tried'

Rotherham United manager, Mark Robins, had to admit defeat last night after a deal he was trying to do didn't materialise.

He had already missed out on Hull City's Stuart Elliott but was trying to fetch someone in to bolster the squad but it wasn't to be. Speaking to The Advertiser he said, 'We couldn't get anywhere. We made phone calls to a lot of clubs trying to get someone in.'

Speaking about the one player he has managed to acquire, Adrian Pettigrew, he said, 'Chelsea have given him to us really and we have to thank them for that.

'He is a brave lad and has good distribution skills. He will give us depth and provide cover for any of the back men we might lose.

'I think Saturday's game will come a bit too early for him but he looks good and will probably feature.'
