'If It's Football, It's Vital'

RUFC - Robins 'missed chances'

Rotherham United manager, Mark Robins, was disappointed with the defeat against Hereford but was still in a positive mood yesterday.

Speaking to MillersWorld, he said, 'I don't thnk we could have done much more without scoring because we created chances but just didn't take them and that is what's frustrating.

'We were poor in terms of defending their one attack that led to the goal. Hereford defended deep and our players were a bit on the back foot and were waiting for things to drop to them, which doesn't happen in football. But I don't want to criticise them too much and we did everything OK going forward and dominated the first half we just didn't stick the knife in. We have a history of making things difficult for ourselves.

'I left Derek Holmes out of the starting line-up because they were set to play against him. We perhaps didn't create as much as we wanted but if the three lads up front had been on song in the first half we'd have murdered them. Marc Newsham was perhaps a bit rusty but the lad is young, as are the others, and they have to be given chances and it depends on them to see if they come through.

'The supporters were a bit quiet in the first half but turned it up for us in the second and I don't think the booing would have upset the players. But the fans and the players all have to stick together if we want to progress.

'OK, it wasn't an ideal result today, but there's still a lot of points to play for. Our confidence isn't dented - we did everything right today we just didn't take our chances. We shall have to bounce back against MK Dons next Saturday.'

Robbo just about called it right with that summary....we were very lightweight up front in the first half, we need to get that cutting edge and be more solid in the attacks and we will be there or there about's come May.
