Went up to Hebburn again yesterday - good journey there and our nearly four week old granddaughter took us to the pub! We set off home about 6ish because we'd been told the A1 was shutting again at 8pm. They lied! So we did our detour to the A19 which actually was fine as there was no traffic!

My partner's gran used to live in Hebburn (she died about a year ago).
We went up a few times to see her.

The A19 goes within a couple of miles from where i live , Caz.

Went to Knaresborough yesterday evening (Friday) , to pick up a 'flat-pack' wardrobe....yes - ANOTHER ebay purchase.

How far is Knaresborough from you! A long way for a wardrobe!

We went up to Hebburn again on Wednesday and got there and back with no problems!

So what else have you been up to Digger?

After an aborted attempt to get from Stoke to Newcastle last Tuesday (car broke down at 4ish two hours from Stoke - AA called and came 5ish and had to tow it back (well they put it on the lorry!) to Stoke - only what they didn't know is that they only take you so far and then another AA lorry takes over which happened to them twice and it was 9.30 when they got back to Stoke) - my daughter and partner set off again 8ish the following morning (in her car!) only to 2 hours later to still not on the Motorway and having to drive around to find another way! A 3 and a half hour drive took them over 5 hours!

Well all that sounds rather complicated , Caz !!!
Knaresborough is (or should be) about an hour away , which is how the journey THERE went.
We were gonna hire a van , but decided that that would double the money we were paying for the wardrobe , so decided to put in in/on top of the car instead .

Typically , as soon as we left Knaresborough , the wind seemed to become some sort of gale force , so we decided to alter our way back and avoid motorways.
Only thing was , we didn't have any maps/sat navs with us - decided to TRY to reach Northallerton (cos we know the country road way home from there) , but the lack of signposting (to major-ish) towns was shocking.
We knew there was a road from Thirsk to Northallerton , but none of the sign posts were including Thirsk , so it was just trial and (mainly) error , until we finally saw signposts to place-names we knew.
Left Knaresborough at 8pm and arrived home around mid-night , with two wardrobe panels hanging off the back-end of the car roof !!!!

NEVER AGAIN...................................... till the next time...

Oh blimey Digger - what a journey! Fancy there being no signposts to Thirsk - it's quite a major place isn't it. Perhaps we should complain to the highways authority!

Hope you've got your wardrobe up and filled!

Had a busy few days - meal out on Friday evening, an evening with friends listening and dancing to an Abba tribute band yesterday and a day in Milnrow with my grandaughter today.

The journey back this evening on the M62 was horrid, heavy rain (again!), spray, and a strong cross wind! Onto the M1 - a little rain and a gentle breeze!

You've had a busy time!

Did very little last week except go here and there on different shopping trips - food shopping mostly. My daughter bought me a ginger beer plant at Christmas and I thought it was high time I got round to doing it! It's cost a fortune - had to buy extra sugar and lemons and then a bucket and funnel and muslin cloth. It's now residing in the fridge but, to be honest, doesn't look too healthy!

Got a busy week coming up. Out for lunch with a friend tomorrow. Off to Hebburn on Wednesday and taking Great Grandma to meet here Great Granddaughter. Out in Sheffield with friends on Thursday.
