Well today is the 21st June and ever since I've known it has always been the 'First Day of Summer'.

I know a lot of people had it for yesterday but, being old fashioned, it really is today!

So what have you been up to?

I've been out to the local pub with a friend for lunch. Only our second meet up this year - she works and has grandsons in Canada she visits as often as she can so we have to make plans in advance!

Went to see my granddaughter yesterday up North and took her Great Grandma to meet her - and the first thing they both did was smile at each other!

Aaahhh!

I bet M was thrilled!

My granddaughter found great grandma such a mouthful that she changed it to 'Greatma'! I rather like it!

Yes, I like that too!

I might recommend it when the time comes!

Been to Sheffield to meet friends we met on holiday a few years ago - we meet two or three times a year. We met in The Water Works pub and then went to Cosmo's for lunch - I've never ever managed a pudding there yet! (Mind I do have two plates of starters!) Afterwards back to pub - Benjamin Huntsman (or something similar) for coffees for the women and a pint for the gents!

Been a busy day today - supermarket for weekend shopping. Mum-in-Law's to take her shopping and we had a spot of lunch with her. Then we had the satnav out to go to pick a TV up that daughter had ordered for her grandma off E-Bay. After that we had to go to Wickes to get a toilet seat as Mum-in-Law's had collapsed and then up to Wickersley to the butchers.

I find I have weeks like this now - it's all or nothing! The week before I don't think I went anywhere!

Had a lovely few days in London with my youngest granddaughter.
Then home in time to have a new carpet fitted - moving all the furniture in and out, emptying and putting back the content of the cupboards - phew I'm shattered.

Settled down to potter on vital - no internet!

Sorted now - do miss it when it's not available!

Glad it's all up and running again!

Why does doing one job make two or three others?!

....or four or five! lol.

Had a really enjoyable evening at Rotherham Civic Theatre. Clapped and waved and danced to a very good Frankie Valli tribute band. Certainly left with a smile on my face!

Glad you enjoyed it, Sixpence!

Had cousin for a couple of hours yesterday on her way back to North Yorkshire - her and her sister are trying to rent my Auntie's house out as she's moved up there into a home. She left around 8.15pm so for the first half of the France v Iceland game I was playing catch-up - but saw the second half live!

I've been doing a balancing act today!

A couple of weeks ago we had the boiler serviced, which is in a cupboard in the bathroom, and after the gasman had been I (stupidly) wiped the wall - and realised it was really time I cleaned the walls! So today was the day (after putting it off and putting it off) and to get to the top of the walls I have to get the small stepladder (the big one is much too wide) and then I have to hang on to the open little window and swing across to stand on the edge of the bath. Then I have to swing back and hang onto the open cupboard door and stand on a ledge and the end of the bath! I've decided I need a tall person to do it next time as I think I'm losing my nerve for balancing!

Good grief!

I was once balancing on the edge of the bath cleaning the bathroom window - fell and got wedged between the toilet and the bath - legs in the air!

Good job I wasn't on my own - I needed help to get up!

Oh no! I once decided to brush laying water of the garage flat roof (why I have no idea) and managed to haul myself up knocking the step ladders down as I did. Luckily the other half was on his way home so I wasn't stranded for long! I never did that again.

Went to a line dancing class yesterday - more for the exercise than dancing skill!
Whew! Found it really hard 'weave' 'box' - my feet don't understand these words!

Tonight it was the monthly WI meeting - a talk by a member of the Sheffield Astronomical Society.
I can't get my head around the scale of Space - 'thousands of light years', stars billions of miles across??

Well, as you know, I don't really do numbers so when they talk of billions and zillions I tend to switch off!

Bet the line dancing was good - only tried it once, on a small ship going through a gale so I blamed my falling and going wrong on that! lol

Went to my friend's daughters wedding evening do last night at Holiday Inn. Unfortunately no dancing for me as just hours before I'd managed to tear off the nail on my little toe which hurt somewhat!
