Thank you Ozi, and the same to you!
I had a lovely Christmas in London with my daughter, son in law and youngest granddaughter. She will be 2 next week so has some idea of what Christmas is all about - a delightful age.
Have my son, daughter in law and older granddaughter (7) staying with me now so cooked a Christmas dinner today and we exchanged presents. We are all going to the panto tomorrow and to the match on New Years day.

Definitely a game for the neutrals yesterday with the atmosphere and the football - and a great point for the Millers.

Off to Meadowhall to meet my sister today

Good luck at M'hell!

I'm relishing the peace!
Wouldn't have Christmas /New Year any other way, I love my family very much, but it is nice to be still.

Sometimes you just feel like closing the curtains, locking the door and chillaxing don't you!

It wasn't too bad at Meadowhall - didn't get a lot, not what I went for, but I can't be bothered to wade through shops with sale rails all over the place. We had a natter and a drink and sandwich, got a couple of things. It was getting very busy as I left. For some reason I'd got it in my head that the schools were back today, obviously I was wrong!

Nothing quite beats going to a shopping mall when schools are out.
Glad you both a good times with your families and your team did well.

Our team did do well, Oz! Blackburn was the one I thought we might come away with nothing from - a year ago we'd have rolled over and died but not any more

(famous last words!)

Get on a bit better now eh.
Drove to Perth with the air conditioning on and picked up a most annoying bug.

Oh no, Oz.

I blame the air con on planes and in hotels for any bugs we pick up when we are away. Not thought about the air con in our car - not that we need it much here of course!

Hope you are soon on the mend

Yes a bit of rest and plenty of water.
Not a fan of air con.
Came back from a job up bush years ago in a four seater plane ( which was enough to make me ill anyway ) and the pilot had the air con on.
I was ill for a fortnight with my lungs killing me. Hate flying!

My enthusiasm for flying has definitely waned - love going to the Caribbean but it takes me days and days to get over the flight back.

You both get around, don’t you!

I’m feeling a lot better now but it took a while to shake off the bug. My old friend from Highland Park helped a lot.

Good you're on the mend, Oz!

I've just got back from an over-nighter with my Granddaughter in Newcastle. Went to the park this morning and played on the swings while her Daddy was at work and her Mummy was at the hairdressers.

We left around 2 and went to the fish and chip restaurant at Conisborough on the way home for a wind down!

One thing I do miss here is the fish and chips.
They never taste like the ones from back home.
Sometimes if we drop in for a meal when up at Fremantle we get a fish platter which is right off the boat and that is quite nice, but just calling in to the local chip shops is a no no for me.

We were on a cruise last year - and the food was really good - and we stopped off at one of the Scottish Islands (forget which now) and people of the ship flocked to a fish and chip shop there!

When we were once in Bournemouth stopping in a flat we went to a fish and chip shop - bloomin' awful they were. Nicest I've had were at Morecambe when we went to a match there near there old ground.

We have a couple of nice fish and chip restaurants within a couple of miles here which we go to these days which are good.

Decent draw at Boundary Park. Been in Oldham a few times where they used to have a great night life. Boundary Park is a cold joint though.

Pouring rain here today from the tail end of Cyclone Joyce. Pretty strong winds so everything tied up and the dog by my feet.
Another bad day tomorrow before it starts to clear up a bit. Good break from the heat.
Plenty of rubbish flying about as its bin day today and some folks put their bins out a bit too full for this weather as they can’t close the lids properly.

Yes, it was cold, Oz and yes it was a good point on reflection - not a very good game.

They won't take your bin here if the lid won't shut - they take things out and put them on the pavement (crazy, I know!)

We are in the wave of having new bins for different things - a bin instead of the blue box for cardboard, another bin for tins and bottles (I think, but not sure), a bin for usual rubbish which they are going to look in to make sure there is nothing in there that should go in one of the other bins (yeah, that's going to happen) and if you pay for it a bin for garden rubbish - but all these bins are going to be smaller than the bins we already have.

Lord only knows what bin will go out on what day and which week. Our neighbours usually wait for my other half to put the bin out or bin and box or just box to see which week it is - especially round holiday time. It will be fun!

Lol we had much the same happening here when they started with the new bond. We have a large yellow lidded bin for all recycling stuff then the same size one with green lid for the green cuttings etc and now a half sized red lid for general waste.
No extra charges here (although the council rates go up every year) and we also have three verge pick ups of tree trimmings every year plus one for metals, old white goods etc.
Then we get four free passes for the tip where we can get rid of stuff by ourselves. Good service really.
I believe some of the local councils do have people checking what’s in the bins but that is done up in Perth and we would have a revolt if they tried it here.
