Grimsby Town vs. Rotherham United

Blundell Park

18 August 2009

7.45pm

Millers v Grimsby Preview

Rotherham United make the short journey to Blundell Park this evening hoping to get back to winning ways after their loss on Saturday at Bournemouth which brought the team back to earth after beating Derby earlier in the week in the Cup. They will also be hoping to get home in one piece from tonight's game after suffering a tyre blow out on their way home on Saturday which left them stranded on the M1 for a couple of hours.
In bottom place at the moment, Grimsby will be hoping that they don't suffer a second humiliating home defeat after losing 4-0 to Crewe on Saturday, with Manager, Mike Newell, taking the rap for that.
It should be a good game tonight with both teams surely wanting to win for the fans

Vital Quotes:

Mark Robins - We didn't pass as well as we could at Bournemouth and we will have to work hard to get that right. We have to be on our guard this evening while making sure we go out and enjoy it

Mike Newell after the defeat on Saturday - We are only one week into the season and it is far too early to be pushing panic buttons. I pick the team so I take full responsibility.

Grimsby Town Team News:

With Nathan Jarman and Adrian Forbes both out for a while, Jean Louis Akpa Akpro could be added to the injury list after suffering a thigh strain on Saturday. Peter Sweeney will probably be restored to the starting eleven and on loan 'keeper, Tommy Forecast is set to keep his place

Player to watch: Robbie Stockdale

The ex-Miller played really well towards the end of last season for the Mariners and will probably want to show his ex team what he can do

Rotherham United Team News:

The Millers are still without striker Drewe Broughton who has a broken toe. Tom Pope could be replaced with latest signing, Adam Le Fondre who came on from the subs bench on Saturday

Player to watch: Nick Fenton

Experienced defender who had a couple of good seasons with Grimsby before joining the Millers.

Ref Watch:

Graham Salisbury from Lancashire

Next Fixtures:

The Millers play their next game on SUNDAY, 23 August against Rochdale at Don Valley. The kick-off is 3.00pm
