Millers v Posh Preview

Peterborough United
vs.
Rotherham United

London Road

10 August 2010

7.45pm

Rotherham United travel to the London Road Stadium on Tuesday night to meet Peterborough United for the start of this seasons Carling Cup games.
The Posh were relegated from the Championship last season but began their League One season with a three-nil win over Bristol Rovers.
The Millers also started the campaign getting all three points by beating Lincoln City two-one at Don Valley.
Last season, Peterborough beat Wycombe, Ipswich and Newcastle before falling to Blackburn Rovers in round four at Ewood Park.
The Millers were drawn against Championship side, Derby County, in the first round, beating them two-one at Don Valley before taking another Championship club, West Bromwich Albion, to extra time in round two. Unfortunately for the Millers the Baggies won the game four-three just three minutes before it would have gone to penalties.

Vital Quotes:

George Boyd - I am looking forward to tonight's game. We put in a good performance, last season, against Ipswich and Newcastle. Rotherham will be tricky opposition because they will no doubt try to defend. But, if we remain patient, we have the ability to break them down.

Ronnie Moore - It is going to be a massively tough game and I don't even know how we are going to put a team out against them

Peterborough United Team News:

Grant McCann is away on International duty with Northern Ireland and Nathaniel Mendez-Laing is a doubt meaning that Aaron Davies could start

Player to watch: George Boyd

After looking certain that Boyd would be on his way out of London Road, the 'White Pele`, as the Posh fans know him, now seems content to stay. Scored the first goal on Saturday

Rotherham United Team News:

Ronnie Moore has a headache before this game with Peterborough. Having started with two loan players on Saturday, Dean Holden and Exodus Geohaghon, neither will be available for this cup game. Also missing from the squad on Saturday is Mark Bradley who has joined the Welsh U21 squad. The Millers have three players out with long term injuries plus a few with niggly injuries including Nick Fenton who is rated only fifty/fifty

Player to watch: Adam Le Fondre

With everyone connected with the club but Ronnie Moore and Alfie himself thinking he would be on his way to a higher division, Alfie seems happy to still be with the Millers. Scored the first goal on Saturday and will be looking for more

Ref Watch:

GK Hegley from Hertfordshire

Next Fixtures:

The Millers visit Morecambe on Saturday at their new ground, The Globe Arena. Kick off is 3.00pm

I know Warney says 'no' but do you think we need a defensive coach?
