Rotherham United vs. Oxford United

Don Valley Stadium

Millers v U's Preview

At last, it's here! The new season! And the Millers begin their campaign at Don Valley against Oxford United.

Andy Scott will want his players to come out with all guns blazing to show the fans what his new players can do.

Likewise, former Miller and U's boss, Chris Wilder, will want his side to carry on from their nine unbeaten games during the pre-season.

Both Managers have brought in nine new players with both sides having plenty of competition for places for this first game.

Vital Quotes:

Andy Scott - Near enough everyone is fit and the lads look very sharp in training. We've spoken about Oxford and it's now how we prepare for the game.

Chris Wilder - We've had a great pre-season and we are ready. The players are all fit and organised and have a massive desire to do well Andy's (Scott) come in and put his own mark on the team and he has publicly said that he wants to win the league and they are a team who have done well over the last couple of years and who will expect to go up. It 's going to be a tough opening game for us but we are confident and we are looking forward to it.

Rotherham United Team News:

The Millers will definitely not have Jamie Annerson available for the game as he's out with a knee infection. Also out is Johnny Mullins who is getting over a serious tendon injury. It could be that Scott starts with the same eleven who began to pre-season friendly against Huddersfield although it is hoped that Danny Schofield and Luke Foster have got over niggling injuries they have had.

Player to watch: Chris Holroyd

a pacey, skilful striker who joined the Millers in the summer

Oxford United Team News:

New boy Michael Duberry will almost certainly start with Harry Worley being injured in pre-season while Ryan Clarke will probably get the number one spot ahead of Wayne Brown. Josh Payne and Asa Hall should play some part in the game after being in great form in the pre-season games. Former Miller, Paul McLaren is struggling with a calf problem

Player to watch: Alfie Potter

a tricky winger with lots of pace

Ref Watch:

Dean Mohareb from Cheshire

Next Fixtures:

The Millers are back at Don Valley on Tuesday night when it's the first round of the Carling Cup. Leicester City are the opponents and the game kicks-off at 7.45pm. Tickets are 10 for Adults and 5 for everyone else
