Rotherham United vs. Leicester Ctiy

Don Valley Stadium

9 August 2011

7.45pm

Millers v Foxes Preview

Rotherham United take on Leicester City in the first round of the Carling Cup this evening at Don Valley.

Rotherham United were in the first ever League Cup Final in 1961 when they lost, over two legs, to Aston Villa although, last season, they lost in the first round for only the second time in a decade.

Visitors, Leicester City, have won the Cup three times (1964, 1997 and 2000) and have been runners-up twice.

It could be that the Foxes come to Don Valley with trepidation with the Millers having a one hundred per cent record over them in this competition - having won three out of three. In fact, the only time City have lost in the first round was in 1979 when the Millers beat them 3-0 at Millmoor and 2-1 at Filbert Street.

Vital Quotes:

Andy Scott - Apart from the three who came down from the Premiership, Leicester are probably the favourites to go up. They are going to be very, very tough opposition no matter what side they put out. Sven`s got experience at all levels and it will be interesting for me to pit my wits against him. We won`t go into the game with any trepidation and we are looking forward to it and will have a right good go at an upset before we prepare for next Saturday.

Rotherham United Team News:

Rotherham United will have Andy Warrington in goal, as Conrad Logan isn`t allowed to play against his parent club and Jamie Annerson is out with a knee injury. Also out is Johnny Mullins with an injury and Troy Brown who is on international duty. Michael Raynes start although Luke Foster will be biting at the bit to get on the pitch.

Player to watch: Lewis Grabban

scored a cracking goal on Saturday and will be looking for another one

Leicester Ctiy Team News:

Sven-Goran Eriksson is without a number of players due to international duty - Sean St. Ledger (Republic of Ireland) and John Pantsil (Ghana) and midfielders Andy King (Wales) and Yuki Abe (Japan). Darius Vassell is out suspended and Lee Peltier has a muscle strain.

Player to watch: Richie Wellens

Midfielder who can score a goal or two

Ref Watch:

Steven Rushton from Staffordshire

Next Fixtures:

The Millers make the long journey down to Plymouth to take on Argyle on Saturday, 13th August. Kick-off is 3.00pm
