Millers v Alex Preview

Crewe Alexandra
vs.
Rotherham United

Gresty Road

16 August 2011

7.45pm

Top of the league, Rotherham United, travel to next to bottom Crewe Alexandra this evening in a hope of getting their third league win on the trot.
The Millers beat Oxford United in their first game this season at Don Valley followed by a good four-one win away at Plymouth Argyle on Saturday while the Alex have yet to get a point from their games.
Of course, we all know it's only the start of the season but the Millers have started really well with their eight new players seeming to gel immediately while Dario Gradi's side haven't quite done that yet - but there is time.

Vital Quotes:

Dario Gradi - We've got some talented though inexperienced players and we could probably do with a bit more physic. It's a surprise that Le Fondre is still with Rotherham because I thought he would have gone by now (with a bit of luck he'll go today!) And they have Gareth Evans up front and, if we'd not been in a higher league, we wouldn't have let him go, before he made his league debut.
Andy Scott - Crewe have some creative players and they have two centre-halves who can attack the ball well from set-pieces.  They`ve got lads who have got individual skills so we shall have to make sure that we are solid and give them little time on the ball.

Crewe Alexandra Team News:

Crewe could be without Matt Tootle again with Carl Martin likely to be at left back. Apart from the Dario Gradi said that, although there won't be any dramatic changes, he will freshen things up a bit

Player to watch: David Artell

The former Miller is making his four hundredth professional appearance this evening and will want to do well against the team where his career started

Rotherham United Team News:

There are no fresh injuries ahead of tonight`s game, though both Michael Raynes and Ryan Cresswell took blows to the face on Saturday against Plymouth but both are thought to be fine. It could be that Scott changes a couple of things and Ben Pringle and Chris Holroyd will be hoping for a start.

Player to watch: Adam Le Fondre

After having a good game and scoring two on Saturday Alfie will want more of the same tonight

Ref Watch:

Paul Tierney from Lancashire

Next Fixtures:

The Millers entertain Barnet at Don Valley on Saturday with a 3.00pm kick-off
