Port Vale vs. Rotherham United

Vale Park

1 October 2011

Millers v Vale Preview

Rotherham United travel to Staffordshire this afternoon to take on eleventh placed Port Vale.

The Millers have only lost one game away so far this season and will want to make amends for the humiliating defeat at Don Valley last weekend to Southend. Andy Scott has failed to get cover in this week to prop up a defence that has leaked eight goals in the last three games.

After losing their last game at Vale Park, the Valiants will be looking to get back to winning ways there.

Vital Quotes:

Andy Scott - Micky (Adams) is a good manager. He knows his players - he signed me for Brentford! He knows how to get the best out of players and they will be wanting to get one over on us. They will be a fit and strong side, be a challenge and a force to reckon with in this league.

Geoff Horsfield - (First Team Coach) - I think Andy Scott will have worked them hard this week after they were turned over by Southend last weekend. I think it's going to be a tough test for us.

Port Vale Team News:

Micky Adams will have striker Marc Richards back after serving a three match ban. Stuart Tomlinson could keep the number one jersey after he impressed last weekend against Crewe and loanees Rob Kozluk and Liam Chilvers should make their home debuts. Lee Colins and Mike Green are still out injured.

Player to watch: Tom Pope

Hasn't been shy about making his feelings known towards Rotherham and would love to score against his old club

Rotherham United Team News:

The Millers are without skipper Ryan Cresswell who is waiting to see if he needs an operation on an ankle problem. Johnny Mullins could well feature after coming off the bench last weekend though if he will get through a full ninety minutes is unsure.

Player to watch: Gareth Evans

Quick and skilful and knows where the net is

Ref Watch:

Paul Tierney from Lancashire

Next Fixtures:

The Millers entertain neighbours Sheffield United on Tuesday night at Don Valley in the Johnstone's Paint Trophy. The game is ALL TICKET and kicks off at 7.45pm
