RUFC - Preview Millers v Cobblers

Rotherham United make their first league game away trip of the season this evening when they travel to Sixfields to take on Northampton Town.

The Millers go into this game on the back of a three-nil win while the Cobblers came away from Rochdale with a goalless draw.

Vital Quotes:

Aidy Boothroyd - Rotherham are a club that is almost a phoenix rising from the flames - new ground, new investment, new manager and lots of new players - and are one of the favourites to go up. It will be difficult but it is a game where we can gauge our development. We know they are a strong side and we'll have to deal with what they bring but we have to make sure we give them a few things to think about. I've only come across Steve Evans once but I mostly get on with all managers. We are all very passionate and all want to win.

Steve Evans - We know what we will be getting at Northampton because they have big, physical players and the ball will be in the air a lot and it will be coming from every angle at every opportunity. Physically, I think, it will be our toughest, most competitive match of the season and if we don't match them physically it can be trouble but I have confidence in my players.

Northampton Town Team News:

Aidy Boothroyd goes into this game with no fresh injury worries and will line up with former Miller Dave Artell in defence.

Player to watch: Adebayo Akinfenwa

Tall forward who is In his second spell with the Cobblers. Scored eighteen goals last season the last one being in the final minute of the final game of the season at Don Valley in the one-all draw with the Millers.

Rotherham United Team News:

The Millers should have Johnny Mullins back in the starting line-up after he was substituted at half-time on Saturday as a precaution although Mark Bradley could deputise if the vice-captain isn't deemed fit. Dale Tonge is back training and Nicky Hunt is making good progress but this game will come too soon for either of them.

Player to watch: Kari Arnason

It was a bit of a surprise when the Icelandic international signed for the Millers in pre-season from Aberdeen but his work rate is fast making him a fans favourite.

Ref Watch:

Trevor Kettle from Berkshire

Next Fixtures:

The Millers visit the Proact Stadium on Saturday, 25th August to take on Chesterfield. The game kicks off at 3.00pm
