Millers v Spireites Preview

Rotherham United make their second away trip of the week but this time not too far to the newly named Proact Stadium (formally B2Net) to take on Chesterfield who came tumbling down from League One at the end of last season.

The Millers go into this game on the back of a defeat courtesy of a late Northampton winner at Sixfields on Tuesday night while the Spireites got a late goal of their own against Rochdale to get them a one-all draw.

With many Millers fans still seething from the humiliating five-nil defeat on their last visit to Chesterfield they will be out in numbers to try and sing their team to victory.

Vital Quotes:

John Sheridan - I think it will be a good game for us and Rotherham are going to be a team who are up there looking at the players they've got in their squad. It will be a tough game but, we are the home team and I expect us to win the game and playing against your local rivals in a derby game is no better time to get your first win of the season.

Steve Evans - I've got a lot of respect for the people at Chesterfield from Dave Allen down to John Sheridan and the gang because there's a lot of people there know what they are doing. Look at the players they've recruited. And both sets of fans are passionate and will be behind their team which is what derby`s are all about and our players will have to play the game and not the occasion. It will be a footballing game because we like to play football and John Sheridan likes to play football and hopefully it will be an end-to-end game. But we need to be ready because we can not start the way we did against Northampton. If we do, then this derby could be done and dusted in ten minutes.

Chesterfield Team News:

John Sheridan has no injury worries and will probably start with the same eleven that have started the first two league games although Marc Richards came away with an ice-pack on his knee on Tuesday night he is expected to be fit

Player to watch: Jack Lester

Chesterfield's longest serving player who scored a hat-trick against us the last time out and will want to do the same again

Rotherham United Team News:

Steve Evans will be hoping to have Johnny Mullins fit for this game and could give Lionel Ainsworth his first start of the season. Two definitely out are Nicky Hunt, who it is hoped will be fit for next Saturday and Dale Tonge who has just started to train again after a Achilles injury

Player to watch: Kayode Odejayi

For a big man can move about a bit and can put in some good crosses as well as get on the end of them in the box

Ref Watch:

Darren Drysdale from Lincolnshire

Next Fixtures:

The Millers entertain Bradford City at the New York Stadium on Saturday, 1st September. Kick-off is 3.00pm
