Bristol Rovers vs. Rotherham United

Memorial Stadium

Millers v Gas Preview

Rotherham United travel to the Memorial Stadium tomorrow to take on Bristol Rovers who are under new management.

After sacking Mark McGhee last Saturday the Gas were quick to appoint John Ward in his place and he will take charge of his first game against the Millers. The Gas are languishing in the bottom two in the league while the Millers go into this game in fourth place just two points below third placed Cheltenham.

The Millers have won their last four away games, including a three-nil victory over League One side Notts County in the FA Cup on Tuesday night. The last time the Millers lost away from home, at Dagenham, was the same day as the last time Rovers won at home, against Chesterfield.

With Rovers shipping forty-four goals in twenty-two league games it would be doubtful that the game will be nil-nil and the Millers will be after revenge after the five-two drubbing at the Memorial last season.

Vital Quotes:

John Ward - It is a tough game, as they a very good opponent, but if we can get these players to work as hard as they possibly can and get the crowd behind us, then who knows, we could get those three points. Marcus Stewart and Shaun North are working alongside me and they both saw Rotherham play on Tuesday. They are a good side with good players, but at the same time they could come and have a bad day, and we could have a good day.

Steve Evans - We`re in for one hell of a tough game on Saturday with Bristol Rovers having a new manager. John Ward will make a big difference there. He`ll have them organised, he`ll have them disciplined and they will get forward nice and early, they`ll fight and they`ll scrap as well as giving the manager a shift. He will have had our game at Notts County analysed to a T and he`ll pick a team to deal with us but he doesn't know what we`re doing which is a bonus. From what I've heard the pitch is not good and when I get a more up-to-date report it may influence the team selection.

Bristol Rovers Team News:

Loanee Cian Bolger has returned to the club after returning to his parent club Leicester City with ligament damage in September. Matt Gill is out with a knee injury but Tom Parkes, who took a knock last week, should be fit.

Player to watch: Guy Branston

Former Miller who is on loan with City from Aldershot. Experienced centre-half and will probably have a bit of banter with the Millers fans. While on loan with the Millers Guy was sent-off in this fixture last season

Rotherham United Team News:

Steve Evans has skipper Ian Sharps back in contention after he served a one-match suspension on Tuesday night and Liam Ridehalgh is also available after his parent club Huddersfield preferred him not to be cup-tied. Dale Tonge made his come-back after injury in a reserve win mid-week but it is thought this game will be too soon for a first team start. Steve Evans has said that he will decide on his team and formation when he has word of the state of the pitch.

Player to watch: Alex Revell

Playing his socks off at the moment with little reward and will want to start finding the back of the net at the start of the Festive games

The Millers are at home on Boxing Day to Port Vale with what it's looking like will be a sell-out crowd. Kick-off is 3pm.
