Rotherham United vs. Port Vale

New York Stadium

Boxing Day 2012

3.00pm

Millers v Vale Preview

Rotherham United welcome Port Vale today for the first ever Boxing Day game at the New York Stadium.

Both the Millers and Vale had games called off at the weekend due to waterlogged pitches so both will be raring to go for this sell-out game.

The Millers will be wanting to make amends after the six-two defeat at Vale Park earlier in the season. Vale are in second place in the league on forty points with the Millers three places and three points behind them.

Vital Quotes:

Steve Evans - It`s going to be tough. Port Vale have gone to the likes of Fleetwood and torn them apart. Micky`s (Adams) done a super job there and despite their problems in the summer they've signed some good players - one or two we wanted but couldn't afford. We`re fresh, we`re hungry and there`s a real desire

Mark Grew - Vale Assistant Manager - I think they will be smarting from the six-two defeat here and they will want to put that right. It`s not the be-all and end-all of the season if we lose because there`s a lot more games to go but it is obviously a big game because they are in the top seven.

Rotherham United Team News:

The Millers will have skipper Ian Sharps back after suspension and also Liam Ridehalgh who couldn't play in the FA Cup win over Notts County. Also on the fringe of returning are long term injured duo Dale Tonge and David Noble.

Player to watch: Daniel Nardiello

Millers top scorer and will want to be among the goals this afternoon

Port Vale Team News:

Micky Adams has a full squad to chose from with Jennison Myrie-Williams back from suspension.

Player to watch: Tom Pope

Former Miller who showed us what we were missing when he scored four against us in the game at Vale Park.

Personally, as a fan, I think the best way to handle Mr Pope is to ignore him. He thrived on the whistles and jeers he got at Vale Park. I'd love the Millers fans to be able to sing 'who are you' to him at the end of today's game

Ref Watch:

Trevor Kettle from Rutland

Next Fixtures:

The Millers are at home on Saturday, 29th December when Accrington will be the visitors. Kick-off is 3pm
