Rotherham United vs. Coventry City

New York Stadium

1st January 2014

Millers v Sky Blues Preview

Rotherham United welcome Coventry City to the New York Stadium for the first game of 2014.

The Millers start the New Year in sixth place in League One with Coventry City six places and nine points behind - although if they hadn't been deducted ten points at the start of the season (for going into liquidation) then the Sky Blues would have been in the play-off places themselves.

City's last away defeat came in December at Swindon Town which is the only game they've lost since the Millers beat them at Sixfields in November. The Millers last lost at the New York Stadium in the FA Cup tie to Rochdale but haven't lost in the league since mid-October when Swindon were the visitors.

Vital Quotes:

Steve Evans - We know a lot about Coventry because they are a team I watch quite a bit with a lot of their games being on a Sunday. I have a great relationship with their Manager (Steven Pressley) and a lot of their players are top class. They recently beat a good Peterborough side four-two and it could have been more so we know we need to be ready.

Rotherham United Team News:

The Millers will be without defender Claude Davis who was (harshly) sent-off against Port Vale on Sunday. The Millers could be without a number of key players due to a sickness bug doing the rounds so there will be some late decisions from Steve Evans today but it also means that Rotherham could be a bit bare on the bench. Ben Pringle will also be missing after getting his fifth booking on Sunday but Rob Milsom and Mark Bradley will be back in contention after serving suspensions.

Player to watch: James Tavernier

Coventry could well find the loanee defender a bit of a handful this afternoon

Coventry City Team News:

Loanee Dan Seaborne is out as he starts a three match ban and midfielder John Fleck is a major doubt as he is suffering with a hamstring problem. Jordan Clarke will have a late fitness test after missing the last two games with an ankle injury. Jordan Willis could start after coming back from a lengthy lay-off.

Player to watch: Leon Clarke

Prolific goal scorer who has scored seventeen goals so far this season
