Millers v Villa Preview

Rotherham United
vs.
Aston Villa

New York Stadium

4 March 2017

3.00pm

Rotherham United welcome Aston Villa for their first visit to the New York Stadium this afternoon.

The Millers go into this game on the back of two away losses which saw the leak seven goals. After some indifferent form Villa seem to be coming out the other end with their last two games being two home wins.

Villa's last away game was at St James' Park which saw Newcastle win two-nil with their last away win being in mid-December at Queens Park Rangers. Rotherham's last home game saw them lose to an injury time goal against Huddersfield Town with their last home win being in January when Norwich City were in town.

Vital Quotes:

Paul Warne - Coming into this season the Villa players had a lot of mental scarring from the season before but since Steve Bruce has come in they've spent about £50m in the transfer window and brought in his own players changing the way they play but I think it will be next season when you see the best out of that team. But there's no disputing that they've got class and they are a strong side. This was a big game for us at the start of the season and it's no different now.

Steve Bruce - We are in a better place than we were a week ago, but that's football. It's never easy going to Rotherham and it will be tough. We will need to show the toughness that we've shown in the last couple of games and see if we can get a result.

Rotherham United Team News:

The Millers are waiting for a second scan on Richard O'Donnell but he won't be available for this game with Darnell Fisher also out due to injury. After having a good week in training skipper Lee Frecklington could make an appearance but I wouldn't hold your breath.

Player to watch: Anthony Forde

Came off the bench last week to make a goal and score a cracker

Aston Villa Team News:

Andre Green, Gary Gardner and Gabriel Agbonlahor are definitely out and although there is better news over Scott Hogan he's another who won't make it this week. After a knee injury Micah Richards has done well in training and could be on the bench. Leandro Bacuna has been given a six match ban by the FA after an altercation with a linesman but Steve Bruce is thinking about an appeal.

Player to watch: Conor Hourihane

Scored his first goal after coming off the bench in mid-week and is likely to start this afternoon
