Millers v Latics Preview
New York Stadium
23 September 2017
Rotherham United welcome Oldham Athletic to the New York Stadium this afternoon which will see Millers Manager Paul Warne take on his former Manager John Sheridan.
Oldham are in bottom spot in League One coming into this weekend, but it's probably a position which belittles their performances at the moment. Likewise the Millers, who are in ninth place, should got something out of more games than they have.
Rotherham's last home game saw them beat Walsall five-one with the Latics last away game saw them two in front only for Bristol Rovers to pull level but a late winner from Oldham saw them get all three points.
Both teams come into this game on the back of losses - the Millers away at Bradford and Oldham at home to Shrewsbury.
Paul Warne - I think Oldham have been in good form since the transfer window when they freshened things up a bit. John Sheridan is a really good footballing coach and I enjoyed my time playing under him. It will be a really tough game for us but I hope we get the result our play deserves.
John Sheridan - Rotherham are a strong outfit, they`ve had some good results and then some poor results but at home they`ll be thinking that there'll be a good chance of getting three points. But I think we have improved a lot over the last few games and I'll be keeping the faith in what I'm doing.
Rotherham United Team News:
Rotherham United will be without suspended Joe Mattock for this afternoon's game with Ben Purrington stepping into the left-back spot. Although Josh Emmanuel played in the Reserve win on Tuesday he might not be quite match fit after being out for a few weeks with a toe injury. Shaun Cummings is almost back to full fitness but this game might come too early for him. Suffering with illness David Ball probably won't make it either.
Player to watch: Jon Taylor
Winger who gives one hundred per cent every game and will want to add to the two goals he got last time out at the New York Stadium
Oldham Athletic Team News:
Eoin Doyle will be missing for the visitors serving a one match ban. Rob Hunt is also out with a hamstring problem and Courtney Duffus won't be rushed back after illness.
Player to watch: Craig Davis
Well travelled striker who is Oldham's top scorer so far this season
