Millers v Doncaster Preview

Doncaster Rovers

Rotherham United

Keepmoat

11 November 2017

12.30pm

It's back to the league this weekend for Rotherham United after FA Cup and Checkatrade Trophy exploits seeing them in an early South Yorkshire derby kick-off with Doncaster Rovers.

Currently in seventeenth place in League One Rovers came back from being two down at non-league Ebbsfleet to win six-two in the FA Cup last weekend. Rotherham were leading at League Two Crewe in the same competition but a last minute goal by the hosts saw the Millers knocked out of the cup.

Rotherham's last away game was a three-all draw at Oxford but they dropped out of the top six aftr losing three-one at the New York Stadium to Gillingham. Doncaster's last league game at home saw Walsall win three-nil with Rovers also losing last time out at Bury.

Vital Quotes:

Darren Ferguson - There`ll be a good crowd, a good atmosphere and a lot of passion. It should be everything a derby can bring. Any derby game is really important for the players to get that result for the fans. This one in particular and the players will be ready.

Paul Warne - It's great credit to Doncaster how they played to get out of League Two last season. It might not have been the start Darren Ferguson wanted this season but he's got them settled now and they've picked up some really good results. They play good football at home and it will be a hard game.

Doncaster Rovers Team News:

Doncaster's treatment room is a busy place with Ross Etheridge, Danny Andrew, Luke McCullough, Alfie May, Alex Kiwomya and Will Longbottom all out this afternoon. But there is some good news with Rodney Kongolo being available.

Player to watch: Harry Toffolo

Former Millers loanee is finding his feet at the Keepmoat after joining in August on loan from Norwich City.

Rotherham United Team News:

The Millers will be without Marek Rodak who is on International duty while Ben Purrington is still out injured. Paul Warne will have Richard O'Donnell and Lewis Price fighting it out to start between the sticks. This game has probably come a little early for skipper Lee Frecklington although he could have a place on the bench. Kieffer Moore can play after a mix-up over how many yellow cards he has but who will partner him up front (if anyone). Both Jonson Clarke-Harris and Jerry Yates played well in the Trophy game on Tuesday night, both scoring while David Ball sat just behind Moore at Crewe last weekend. Jon Taylor will be hoping to start after coming back from injury but Joe Mattock is out suspended.

Player to watch: Will Vaulks

Will want to show-off his goal celebration again this afternoon!

I know Warney says 'no' but do you think we need a defensive coach?
