Millers v Pilgrims Preview

Rotherham United
vs.
Plymouth Argyle

New York Stadium

16 December 2017

3.00pm

Rotherham United welcome Plymouth Argyle who have made the long trek to the New York Stadium this afternoon.

The Pilgrims have just got permission to extend Home Park and although they are still languishing in the bottom four of the league they have taken fifteen points from their last ten games.

A win away at Blackpool last weekend saw the Millers climb to ninth in the table and are nine points ahead of today`s opponents.

Rotherham's last home game saw them lose to Bristol Rovers while Plymouth's last away league game was a one-nil loss at Portsmouth.

Vital Quotes:

Richie Barker - Had the league season started six weeks later I don't think Plymouth would be where they are now. Certainly over the last couple of games their form suggests they aren't a bottom four team and it's not a game we will be going into lightly.

Derek Adams - Rotherham have just come down from the Championship and they took one of our players in Ben Purrington for over £300,000 so they are a club that spends money on transfers. They showed a bit of resilience to come back and win the game late on at Blackpool last weekend.

Rotherham United Team News:

Joe Mattock is rated just less than fifty-fifty to play and if he doesn't make it then Ben Purrington could be back in. Jon Taylor and Darren Potter are out but it's hopeful that Lee Frecklington and Joe Newell will be fit.

Player to watch: David Ball

Scored twice last week and will be hoping to do the same again today

Plymouth Argyle Team News:

It's going to be a bit like 'spot the former Miller' when Plymouth come to the New York Stadium this afternoon. Former Millers' 'keeper Kelle Roos, who is the Pilgrims seventh goalkeeper so far this season, should keep his place after making his debut last week. Former striker Ryan Taylor will also probably start as could Toumani Diagouraga who scored last weekend. Lionel Ainsworth is also at Home Park but will probably be on the bench.

Player to watch: Ryan Taylor

Will want to come back to Rotherham and do well with family and friends watching
