Rotherham United kept their fifth consecutive clean league sheet with a nil-nil draw against top of the table Brentford at Don Valley this afternoon.
The home side took the game to the league leaders early on when Mark Hudson's first minute shot was well saved by visiting 'keeper Ben Hamer. Hamer was called into action again five minutes later after a great ball from Jamie Green found Drewe Broughton whose shot was well held by the 'keeper. Hudson tried a header from twenty yards out on fifteen minutes but it went past the right hand upright. It was ten minutes later that Brentford had their first shot on goal when John Halls took a free kick that found Jordan Rhodes who seemed to scuff his shot and the ball flew straight into the waiting arms of Andy Warrington. The Millers had a claim for a penalty when Jamie Clarke was bundled over in the penalty area but referee Evans shook his head. Just before the end of the half, Reuben Reid was brought down just outside the penalty area and Green found Broughton free in the area but his header went just over the bar.
Brentford came out for the second half a bit more lively and in the opening minute Warrington saved the ball from a Halls cross. At the other end Ryan Dickson handled the ball, which resulted in a yellow card and a free kick to the home side. Up stepped Jamie Green and his curling shot just went over the bar. Clarke and Reid both saw shots blocked while Micky Cummins had a shot saved by Hamer. Andy Warrington brought off a great save from Sam Wood and from the resulting corner, Nathen Elder, on for Rhodes, shot over the bar. This was about the last contribution the striker made as he and Millers skipper Pablo Mills went up for the same ball which left Elder with a face injury resulting in him having to be stretchered off. Jamie Clarke, Mark Hudson and Ryan Taylor, on for Reid, had shots that were either blocked or saved by Hamer before the last minutes of the game when a Jamie Green corner was punched to safety by Hamer.
A good point for the Millers today against a team that's only lost two games this year
