Rotherham United lost this afternoon to a goal in the second minute of time added on which could have ended the Millers hope of a play-off place.
There was little goalmouth action at the start of the game with the first chance falling to Chris Zebroski on twenty minutes who broke the off-side trap (though he looked off-side to me) and his run down the wing ended in him shooting into the side netting. A minute later Mustapha Carayol broke free but Zebroski and Matthew Lund seemed to trip over one another and the ball went wide. With the visitors having most of the play the next shot came Joe Anyinsah received a perfect ball from Zebroski but the tall striker miscued his shot and Andy Warrington, in the Millers goal, easily saved. On the half hour mark there were ironic cheers from the Millers fans as the referee awarded the Millers a corner - which was the first decision he had given to Rotherham that day. Zebroski went close again, but this time towards his own net as he headed just wide with 'keeper Scott Bevan looking on anxiously. Sam Wood, who was lively all game, played a neat ball to the feet of Mark Bradley who had an excellent touch but his shot went high and out of play. In the final minute of the half, Johnny Mullins found Lewis Grabban who's shot was blocked by Cian Bolger and went behind to safety.
The Millers came out fairing much better for the second half but it was Anyinsah, who got the better of Scott Griffiths, who looked likely to score until Warrington came rushing out to collect the ball at the strikers feet. With Kieron Cadogan coming on, Grabban went up front and should really have done better after being sent on his way by Alex Revell but his shot was off target. Revell himself tried his luck a few minutes later but his shot went wide while a header from Grabban also went wide. Grabban had a another chance and was just about to shoot from just inside the six yard area but was thwarted by an excellent challenge from Lund. Wood also found himself in space and had a shot but it went well over the bar while Bevan did well to get down and smother a shot from Grabban. At the other end, Warrington did well to get down to a shot from Matt Harrod, on for Zebroski, who had actually probably spent as much time on the floor as he had stood up today and Johnny Mullins was on hand to block a shot from Elliot Richards, on for Mustapha Carayol. As the game hit the nintey minute mark, Lee Brown, on for Anyinsah, had a shot at goal that brought off a great save from Warrington as he finger tipped it over. But, in the second minute of time added on, the Millers luck ran out when Lund flew forward, got the ball to Brown who in turn got the ball into the area where Andy Dorman, who is on loan from Crystal Palace, hit the ball past Warrington into the back of the net.
We had so many chances today and, I know I've been saying this for at least three seasons, we really have to start taking them. Play-off chances over? Well, the fat lady is only tuning up but another three points dropped and she could be yodelling at the top of her voice.
