Stocksbridge 1 - Rotherham United 3

Look Local Stadium

1 August 2012 7.45pm

Attendance:

Millers Back to Winning Form

Rotherham United took quite a strong side to the Look Local Stadium last night to take on Stocksbridge.

The Millers had a few early chances, one from Kieran Agard that went just wide, before the home side took the lead on twenty-three minutes when former Bradford City striker, Kevin Sanasay, got on the end of a Ben Turner pass and smashed the ball in from twenty-five yards out with Andy Warrington, in the Millers` goal, unsighted. Both Alex Revell and Agard had shots that Steels` 'keeper, Adam Billard, was pleased to see go over before the equaliser from the penalty spot after Agard was brought down by Billard and Michael O`Connor put away the spot kick. A few minutes later the Millers went in front after a good run and excellent cross from Gareth Evans found Agard and the former Yeovil striker headed the ball into the corner of the net. The twenty-two year old had the ball in the net again five minutes later but was adjudged to have been off-side.

The Millers came out the stronger in the second half with Revell having a couple of chances before he got his head on the end of a Jason Taylor cross to make it three-one (although it could have been that a Steels` defender actually put the ball over the line!) Evans could have made it four after getting on the end of an Agard centre but Billard pulled off a fine save before Alec Denton (on at half-time for Danny Schofield) saw a shot go just wide. At the other end Scott Hogan saw a shot go just wide of Andy Warrington`s goal while the tall 'keeper did well in the final minutes of the game to save from Cole Payne.

Roving Reporter Zipadeedoodah says 'It was a good entertaining game with plenty of chances falling to the Millers who, on a better day, would have notched half-a-dozen.`
