Burton beat Millers

What a difference a week makes if you`re a Rotherham Utd fan! No, you`re not reading last weeks game report again but you are probably wondering how the team that won so comprehensively last week could get a result like this.

The team that Steve Evans named to start this game was, in my opinion, a really strong looking line up. The mid field especially seemed to have a lot of quality and experience. Enough you would have thought to have the home side under pressure for most of the game, bearing in mind their reported injury problems before the game.

On 36 minutes, however, a route 1 finish saw the Brewers 1-0 up. Symes flicked on goalkeeper Tomlinson`s punt and Kee finished. I`m not being precious when I say route 1. Get the ball in danger areas and you can score. To compound matters, David Noble was then booked twice in quick succession to leave the Millers facing the second half with only 10 men.

Ten minutes in to the second half and Kee was on hand again to control and shoot past Andy Warrington. The Millers did put up a fight and the home side had to withstand some pressure before a second red card reduced Rotherham to 9 men! Maghoma seemed to fall over in the penalty area before appearing to roll over the ball. Without attempting to regain his footing he toe poked the ball away as Michael O`Connor came in. I have seen obstruction decisions given for less but it was deemed a penalty and straight red for O`Connor. The penalty was saved by Andy Warrington but with that, it was effectively game over.

Final Score Burton Albion 2 Rotherham Utd 0
