Millers 1 v Forest 1

A defensive lapse three minutes from time cost the Millers three points against League One leaders Nottingham Forest at Millmoor today.

After another sensational strike from Will Hoskins had put the Millers in front, the visitors looked bereft of ideas going into the final stages.A long ball was flicked over the napping back-line and duly put past a despairing Neil Cutler to ensure Forest kept their unbeaten away record intact.

Until that lapse the Millers had kept a pacy Forest attack at bay with some superb defensive displays and tackling - notably from midfielder Martin Woods who played brilliantly as a fifth defender for the last 15 minutes. It was Woods perfect through ball that gave Rotherham the lead on the 58th minute as Will Hoskins latched on, took a touch and powered it into the roof of the net.

The Millers started brightly having a number of corners and Hoskins, Sharps and Partrdige had shots saved by Paul Smith and Delroy Facey had a shot saved off the line by Nicky Southall although t looked to all the home fans like handball but referee, Mr Oliver dismissed the claim.

The second half saw Forest the brighter and Cutler did well to spread himself and save the ball from Kris Commons with his leg. Then came Hoskins superb goal which was taken with great skill. That was soon followed by a Forest substitution when Neil Harris was replaced by Nathan Tyson. The Millers continued to push forward and Cullip cleared from a Woods corner before being booked for dissent, followed by a booking for Clingan for unsporting behaviour. A foul by Cullip on Bopp resulted in a free kick and only a great save from Smith prevented Hoskins getting his second. Smith, once again, saved from Hoskins only to parry the ball out to Facey who sent it high and wide with the goal at his mercy. A minute later Clingan was replaced by Grant Holt for Forest and the Millers brought on Hibbert for Partridge. With three minutes to go Junior Agogo flicked the ball to Tyson who scored his first goal of the season. Within the last few minutes Tyson had the chance to put the visitors in the lead but Cutler dived backwards and produced a good save while at the other end Hoskins saw a header and shot go wide to leave both teams with a point each.
