Rotherham United's second away win of the season saw them climb into fourth spot this evening after a Richard Wood goal twelve minutes into the second half gave them all three points against Rochdale.

Starting well the Millers got a corner in the opening minutes after some brilliant work from Ryan Williams which ended up at the feet of Joe Mattock who saw his shot from twenty yards out go over the crossbar. On three minutes though it wasn't looking so good when skipper Lee Frecklington fell to the ground and limped from the pitch which saw Will Vaulks come on in his place. After Richard O'Donnell, replacing Marek Rodak, who is on International duty with Slovakia's U21 side, did well to catch a cross from Oliver Rathbone the Millers threw bodies down the other end of the pitch with Kieffer Moore making enough of a nuisance of himself to make Josh Lillis put the ball out for a throw. The hosts first real chance came just before the quarter of an hour mark after Donervon Daniels got past his marker and sent the ball in for Steve Davies who saw his header well saved and a few minutes later Davies found himself in acres of room to have a shot from twenty-five yards out which whistled over landing on the top of the net. After a shot from Callum Camps didn't bother anyone the Millers went down the other end winning a free-kick which Anthony Forde took and Vaulks got on the end of seeing his header turned round the post by Lillis. Darren Potter and Richie Towell had shots saved before excellent work from the busy Ryan Williams saw Forde control the ball well but his tame shot was easy for Lillis to grab. After a few meaty challenges went in from Rochdale, whose instructions appeared to be stop Rotherham however you can, Richard Wood went down and had to receive treatment on the pitch before carrying on . A good header from Michael Ihiekwe stopped Dale midfielder, and former Rotherham loanee, Ian Henderson's header making it's way towards goal. The first yellow of the afternoon went to Joe Bunney who hacked Williams down with the free-kick coming to nothing before O'Donnell did well to race out and punch to safety a ball from Davies aimed at the feet of Henderson.

The second half started with referee David Coote showing a yellow card to MJ Williams after he hauled Darren Potter to the ground and was followed into the book by Jimmy McNulty who pulled Kieffer Moore to the ground when he was about to race clear on goal. The resulting free-kick saw Josh Lillis fumble the ball watching it go behind for a corner. Anthony Forde took the corner kick which went over everyone's head except Richard Wood's at the corner who powered the ball in from close range to send the travelling one thousand plus Millers wild. Within a minute of the re-start the hosts should probably have equalised after a Joe Bunney corner was met by the head of Steve Davies who saw his header hit the crossbar and go out to safety. Oliver Rathbone was replaced by Calvin Andrew. Shaun Cummings did well to put the ball behind for a corner after Bunney went towards goal with the kick falling to Ian Henderson which Will Vaulks had to clear off the line. Some super work from Richie Towell got the ball to Ryan Williams who won the visitors a corner which Anthony Forde took and found Potter who in turn found Richard Wood but the goalscorer put this one over. Bradden Inman came on for Callum Camps which was followed by yellow cards for Henderson who bundled over Williams and then to Potter for a late challenge on Matt Done. Lillis did well to save from Towell before the last substitution for the hosts saw former Millers loanee Jordan Slew replace Done. After a couple of anxious minutes for Rotherham when Rochdale won a few corners the visitors got a corner of their own which Wood's head got to but he couldn't aim it towards goal. Semi Ajayi came on for Forde followed in time added on by Jonson Clarke-Harris replacing Kieffer Moore. Rochdale had a good opportunity to draw level after Davies put the ball in front of the on-rushing Inman who, with an empty goal in front of him, skied the ball into the Rochdale fans behind the goal. Wood did well to get to Slew before he could get a cross in before Clarke-Harris won a free-kick for the visitors. In the dying minutes of the match Ryan Williams saw yellow for a foul on Andrew.

You can't fault today's effort from the Millers and it was another away win for Paul Warne and his following army of fans.

Star Player

I thought Richie Towell had a very good first half with Kieffer Moore again playing out of his skin. But my Man of the Match goes to RYAN WILLIAMS who never stopped running despite being poked, prodded, kicked, pushed for most of the game
