Belper 1 - Millers 1

Christchurch Meadow

1 August 7.45pm

Attendance:

Millers v Belper

Rotherham United manager, Mark Robins, took a mainly youthful team to Belper last night for a pre-season friendly.

These are extracts from texts received during the game from Zipadeedoodah:

'ten minutes gone and still 0-0. Ryan Taylor just scored but disallowed. Danny Hudson (ex Miller) is playing centre mid-field for Belper. '

'Millers best chance so far on thirty-five minutes - good running through the middle from Sam Duncum who fed Zeph Thomas to his left. His shot was parried by the 'keeper onto the feet of Taylor in front of an empty net - only to hit it into the car park behind the goal'

'Two minutes from time the big Neil Shipperly look alike up front for Belper (please note there were no programmes/team sheets available at the game!) was put through with only Steven Cann to beat. He scuffed his shot to the right and was lucky to hit the stanction. Half-time - goalless'

'Four changes at half-time for Millers including Nat Kerr at right back for trialist Kyle Jacobs and Ryan Green for out of sorts Ryan Taylor'

'One-nil to Millers! A strong run from Jamie Yates through the middle on sixty-fifth minute and a pass to the right of the area found Thomas with his back to goal. A sharp turn and shot opened the scoring'

'one all. A long low cross from the right found Belper's striker stooping to head in the equaliser.'

'End result one-one - fair result overall. Man of the match Jamie Yates'

He also said it was a pretty decent showing from both teams.

(For the price of a pint at the ground and a review of the food please go onto our Millers Mumblings Forum and see thread 'Team v Belper'!)
