RUFC - Reserves Lose

Rotherham United Reserves let a two goal lead slip last night against neighbours Sheffield United in the Pontin's Holiday League.

Despite goals from David Haggerty, in the first minute and a cracking goal into the top corner from Ryan Taylor, the Blades came back to score four goals before half-time. Nicky Law scored on the half-hour mark and two minutes later the equaliser came from Luton Shelton. Stephen Quinn picked up a lose ball to score from twenty yards out and just before the interval Sharp and Shelton played a one-two and Sharp turned and scored the fourth from close range.

There were no more goals in the second half although Tom Cahill saw a shot go just wide of the post and Sam Duncum had a shot saved by the visiting goalkeeper while Cahill and Duncum combined well but the resulting shot from Taylor was saved by Bennett. Jamie Annerson, ironically on loan from Sheffield United, was kept busy in the Millers net and brought off some good saves including a free kick from Donnelly.

Peter Holmes, who had declared himself fit after a foot injury, played for sixty minutes and I feel certain he will feature for the first team on Saturday at Wrexham.

Star Player

RYAN TAYLOR seemed to be on fire last night, let's hope he can soon produce the same performances in the first team. A special mention to DAVID HAGGERTY who I thought had a good game too.

Oh dear, at least you got 2 goals. Shame about the poor attendance again

Do you know JK, we wanted Mex and Handy Haddock to go round and count last night but what with the piccalli shirts of the Blades glaring at them and the wonderful company they were with they couldn't bear to go and do it!
