Millers Get Away Point

Macclesfield
1 - 1
Rotherham

Moss Rose

2 October 7.45pm

Attendance: 1,715

Referee:

Misses in the first and a poor display in the second half cost Rotherham points in a game where the Millers should have had it done and dusted before the half time whistle.

Although it was the home side who could have scored on three minutes when Levi Reid put his shot just over the bar, it was Rotherham who dominated the first forty-five minutes. Tall centre forward, Derek Holmes, put the visitors in front on the thirteenth minute when Chris O`Grady did well down the left hand side and found Holmes with a tasty looking ball who left footed it into the net. Just before that Andy Todd brought off a good save from Tommy Lee in the Silkmen`s goal and Chris O`Grady saw a header go just over the bar. A free kick from Stephen Brogan, just after the goal, saw his shot rebound off one upright, hit a defender and rebound off the opposite upright before being hooked to safety. Macclesfield will be wondering how they went in only one down at half time.

Then the second half, and another dismal display from the Millers. Both Danny Thomas and Martin Gritton should have scored before Gritton got the equaliser on the sixty-first minute when the visitors defence was in disarray allowing the striker to nip in front of 'keeper Andy Warrington to head home. After that there was only one goalkeeper kept busy, with it being one way traffic towards the Millers goal.

So Rotherham still haven`t won at Moss Rose and the Millers fans came away, for the second time in three days, disappointed. We have to learn to play for ninety minutes - perhaps it`s something to do with pacing ourselves properly or maybe we didn`t get into a rhythm in the second half. Whatever it is, it has got to be sorted.
