Millers Trawl to Victory

Three goals and a sending off was the order of the day this afternoon at Millmoor as the Millers beat Grimsby two-one. Nick Fenton equalised for the Mariners but also turned into a villain when he received a red card not long afterwards. Although, he could easily have been sent off in the first half for a bad challenge on Marc Newsham but referee Hegley produced a yellow.

The home side went in front after piling on the pressure on the thirty-ninth minute when Mark Hudson saw his shot from six yards out trickle along the line before nestling in the bottom left hand corner of the goal. His delight at getting his first for the Millers was obvious as he ran towards the fans in the Tivoli kissing the badge on the front of his shirt. Pablo Mills and Marc Newsham had gone close with headers before Hudson`s goal while Ian Sharps at the other end cleared off the line in the first minutes of the game. The Mariners should have been level just before half time when Shaleum Logan found Gary Jones who, with only Andy Warrington in the Millers goal to beat, headed over the bar.

Eight minutes after the start of the second half, Grimsby equalised. A corner from Danny Boshell was poorly defended and Nick Fenton got above everyone else to head into an empty net. But a few minutes later Fenton, who had already been booked, tripped Danny Harrison and received a second yellow and his marching orders from the referee. This changed the game in the Millers favour and the home side soon took advantage of the extra man when an Ian Sharps cross found Chris O`Grady at the far post and he hit it into the top of the goal to give Rotherham all three points.

Tonight the Millers find themselves sitting comfortably in seventh place with twenty four points and a good gritty performance today must have pleased manager Mark Robins, although he must be disappointed that a goal was once again conceded from a set piece.

Well done, good game, think you deserved the win. Thought we might get something when we equalised, but Fenton's sending off did not help us.

It looks like you have found a good bot of form at the moment. Good to see a Yorkshire club on the up.
