Goals from Marc Newsham and Chris O`Grady gave the Millers a deserved win tonight over Bury in a very entertaining game at Millmoor. But, once again it was a case of chances going begging and a nail biting finish that really makes the headlines.
As early as the third minute Pablo Mills, for the home side, had a shot at goal which was cleanly caught by Bury`s 'keeper Jim Provett which was repeated seven minutes later with the same result. Busy striker, Chris O`Grady, saw his shot go just wide of the upright and Stephen Brogan, who had an outstanding game, crossed the ball to bring off a good save by the Bury 'keeper. It was a corner by Stephen Brogan to the far post that found Marc Newsham in the area for the striker to head the ball firmly into the net for the Millers opening goal. The Millers could have bagged a hat full tonight with O`Grady, Newsham, Dale Tonge and Ryan Taylor, who brought of a great save from Provett, going close before, against run of play, Bury found themselves in the Millers penalty area and referee, Mr Melin was pointing to the spot. All twenty-two players on the pitch looked bemused by the decision which, we believe, was given for an Ian Sharps tug on Glynn Hurst. Up stepped Nicky Adams to hit the ball into the top corner of the net giving Andy Warrington, who had hardly touched the ball up until this point, no chance in the Rotherham goal.
The visitors came out the better of the two teams for the second half but hardly troubled Warrington and after ten minutes Taylor`s pace outwitted the Bury defence and an inch perfect pass found O`Grady who saw his shot deflected off Steven Haslam. A few minutes later both Brogan and Taylor could have put the Millers in front before O`Grady scored his second in two games on fifty-five minutes. Bury were still dangerous on the break and Warrington went down well to save from Adams while the Millers fans suffered a nail biting last ten minutes with Lee Bullock and Domaine Rouse coming close to equalising.
In the end it takes the Millers to eight unbeaten games and was a good all round performance from Mark Robins young team and I am sure the manager will be proud of them tonight.
