Sub Taylor at the Double

Three goals in the last twenty minutes gave Mark Robins' high flying Millers all three points in a not very exciting game at Millmoor today.

Really, the Millers should have gone in at half-time one up after Stephen Brogan twice had crosses saved by Jonny Brain in the visitors goal, Ian Ross's shot from twenty yards out hit the bar and rebounded to safety and just before half-time an Ian Ross corner found captain, Graham Coughlan, in the penalty area but his header was cleared by Jamie Tolley. The only shot Andy Warrington really had to save was about half way through the half from Gareth Evans.

The Millers looked brighter in the second half but it was Warrington who had to make the first real save when he punched the ball clear from a Kevin McIntyre corner. In the fiftieth minute, Gareth Evans saw a shot deflected to Nick Blackman but the eighteen year old shot the half-volley into the stands. Marc Newsham was replaced by Ryan Taylor who set Millmoor alight and seven minutes later the Millers went into the lead when the lively Stephen Brogan broke down the left wing and picked out Mark Hudson who headed it into the back of the net. Taylor himself then hit the post but a few minutes later Pablo Mills won the ball and rolled it to Taylor who made sure of his first of the afternoon and the Millers second. With three minutes left to go, Taylor swapped passes with Danny Harrison and fired in from close range to make it three-nil to the home side.

The Millers have picked up ten points in their last four games and are sitting pretty in third place in the league.

Hard one today - I thought Danny Harrison, Ian Ross and Ryan Taylor (on as a sub) had good games but for his work rate I am going to give it to

STEPHEN BROGAN
