RUFC - Head-to-Head v Luton Town
The last Millers League victory at Millmoor v Luton Town was way back in December 1962, but considering we've only met 5 times in the last 46 years softens the blow a bit.
The 1962 win was 4 days before Christmas and the 2-1 scoreline came benefit of a double from John McCole, in front of 8,198 fans.
Last time out at Millmoor was on 2nd September 2000, where the Millers were looking for the first home points of the season after 2 opening defeats, despite winning both games on the road at Colchester and Bristol City.
However, it was The Hatters who struck the first blow after 6 minutes.
A long clearance from Luton keeper, Mark Ovendale found current Miller Peter Holmes, who in turn laid the ball off to Andy Fotiadis and the striker scored from the edge of the area past Ian Gray to put 17th placed Luton 1-0 up against 10th placed Rotherham.
Ian Gray then produced a couple of good saves to prevent Luton doubling their lead through the two Matthews, Spring and Taylor.
Rotherham, then turned on the pressure and good link work from Kevin Watson and two summer signings, Marvin Bryan and Mark Robins nearly brought an equaliser.
Paul Warne and Darren Garner also came close before Leo Fortune-West headed just wide and a turn and shot from the edge of the penalty area by Mark Robins sent Rotherham into the half-time break bursting with confidence despite still trailing by the one goal.
After the interval, an Andy Monkhouse cross found Fortune-West who's strike was well saved by Ovendale.
Then, in a rare Luton attack, former Chelsea striker Mark Stein hit the upright.
This didn't deter the Millers however, and on 65 minutes the home side scored a expected and deserved leveller.
A great run by Paul Hurst saw his shot parried by Ovendale, but Mark Robins was on hand to knock the loose ball home for his 4th goal in just 5 league games.
A powerful Guy Branston header 6 minutes from time nearly gave the Millers all 3 points, but the game ended all square in front of 4,061 fans, which saw the Millers move up to 9th position in division 2.
The return at Kenilworth Road on a Tuesday night in April will go down as one of the great matches of that Promotion winning season as a 76th minute goal from Chris Sedgewick took us to within touching distance of promotion.

The blast from the past comes from a game featured on Match of the Day from 24th April 1982.
Luton Town were on their way to the 2nd division title, and on this day stood 7 points clear at the top over nearest challengers Watford.
Rotherham stood in 5th place level on points with Leicester and Norwich and 6 points away from 3rd promotion placed Sheffield Wednesday.
11,290 were at Millmoor to witness a very entertaining and attacking game which opened with an 11th minute goal from the visitors, when Lil Fuccillo finished off an incisive move.
Rotherham equalised on 28 minutes after great approach work from Tony Towner and Billy McEwan finished with a Ronnie Moore header into the Luton goal for his 20th goal of the season.
In the second half, John Seasman shot the Millers into the lead but a 25 yard effort from Richard Money levelled the game again.
It was in the final minute of the game that Rotherham were awarded a controversial penalty, and Town keeper Alan Judge must have thought justice had been done when he saved from Gerry Gow.
The Millers dropped 2 points and dropped down to 7th, although the gap to Sheffield Wednesday in 3rd was reduced to 5 points as they were trounced 4-0 by 2nd placed Watford.
