RUFC - Head-to-Head v Darlington

RUFC - Head-to-Head v Darlington
Darlington travel to Don Valley to take on Rotherham United this Tuesday, here's a look at the history of this fixture....

Last time out between The Millers and The Quakers at Millmoor ended with the visitors going home with a 2-0 victory in September 2007.
This brought to an end, a run of 3 straight home wins v Darlington.
Julian Joachim was provider for both goals, as firstly his 10th minute cross found Pawel Abbott in the centre and he finished off the move with a low shot past Andy Warrington.
The result was sealed 14 minutes from time when another Joachim cross from the right was met cleanly by the head of substitute Gregg Blundell who made it 2-0.
3,988 saw the game which leapfrogged Darlington over Shrewsbury and Chester to the top of League 2.
This was Rotherham's first league loss of the season and we dropped from 8th to 12th.
Current Miller, Micky Cummins lined up for the visitors that day.

The previous meeting at Millmoor was on December 18th 1999, as 3rd placed Rotherham took on 2nd placed Darlington, in a battle for automatic promotion from Division 3.
Darlington had gone above the Millers courtesy of a 3-1 win over bottom club Chester 3 days prior to this meeting.
The Millers went into this game with just 1 defeat in their previous 10 League games.
Darlington took the lead against the run of play on 57 minutes, as Millers winger Trevor Berry, tried to clear a Marco Gabbiadini header, but the ball hit Berry on the shin and flew past keeper Mike Pollitt for an o.g.
It was all square in the 83rd minute when Paul Warne whipped in a low cross and substitute Jason White scored with a good left foot shot.
The Millers were rewarded 2 minutes from time when Quakers stopper Mark Samways made a brilliant save to keep out a shotfrom Leo Fortune-West, but White was on hand again to smash home the loose ball for the winner, which took the Millers back up to 2nd place in front of 4,234 fans.
Former Millers loanee, Peter Duffield lined up for Darlington.
