RUFC - Head-to-Head v Bradford

Ahead of our Yorkshire derby clash with Bradford City at Don Valley this Saturday, here's a look at the history of this fixture.

Rotherham United will be looking to getting back to winning ways when Yorkshire rivals Bradford City visit Don Valley Stadium this Saturday.
The Millers have an impressive record on home soil against the Bantams, with just 5 defeats in 29 League meetings, and only 1 in the last 10.

Last time out came on March 22nd 2008 as the Millers were facing their first match after entering administration again, with the resulting 10 point deduction seeing the team drop out of the play-offs from 7th to 11th.
4,157 fans turned out to see Bradford take a 48th minute lead, as Tom Penfold's cross from the wide right found Joe Colbeck in the centre to slide the ball home off the inside of the post.
However the scores were levelled on 65 minutes as a Marc Joseph free-kick was met by Chris O'Grady who shot home to make it 1-1.
The scoring was over for the afternoon, but the drama wasn't, as City's Omar Daley was given a straight red 6 minutes later by Referee Mike Thorpe for an off the ball incident with Millers Centre-half Graham Coughlan.

Rotherham United's last home victory against Bradford City was on 3rd March 2007 at the start of a brand new era in Millers history.
Following a run of 14 games without a win, sitting at the foot of League 2 and 11 points from safety, Manager Alan Knill had been relieved of his duties by the club and Mark Robins was installed as Caretaker boss.
Robins got off to the best possible start with a 4-1 victory in front of 4,568 fans at Millmoor.
Delroy Facey opened the scoring just 4 minutes into the game after good approach work from Ian Henderson.
Omar Daley equalised for City 9 minutes after the break with a 25 yard effort leaving Millers keeper Gary Montgomery stranded, but the rest of the afternoon belonged to Rotherham.
On 65 minutes, a Martin Woods free-kick was fumbled over the line by Bantams keeper Donovan Ricketts to give the Millers the lead again.
7 minutes later, Delroy Facey increased the lead to 3-1 with a shot from the edge of the box which went in off the upright, and Martin Woods completed the days work with a screamer just 2 minutes from time.
This result saw Bradford drop into the relegation zone, and 2 wins from the last 11 games of the season saw City take the drop to the League basement with the Millers.

Rotherham's biggest home victory over Bradford City came on Tuesday September 24th 1974, as City's unbeaten away record was halted by a emphatic 4-0 win by the Millers, who went on to win promotion that season.
A first half goal from Richard Finney set off the win, as goals after the break from Trevor Womble, Bob Delgado and Finney again sent the Rotherham contingent of the 4,781 crowd home the happiest.
This win moved Rotherham up to 2nd position in Division 4, whilst Bradford dropped to 9th.
The Bradford team that night contained 2 former Millers stars, Bobby Ham and Rod Johnson.
Missing out through injury was the much travelled Welsh international and former Sheffield United player, Trevor Hockey.
In goal for the Bantams was Peter Downsborough, who was Swindon Town keeper in their famous 3-1 League Cup Final win over Arsenal at Wembley in 1969.

Wonder where that team of '74? I know Ron Wigg is no longer with us. Breck and Alan Crawford would be quite easy to find! Rich Finney works with the Titans (comes to our school for presentations and things). Willy Womble is still at the Brecon. Anyone know where the others are?
