Mr A Bates from Staffordshire

Tony Bates has been a qualified referee since 1983. He joined the National List of Assistant Referee's in 1993 and the National List of Referee's three years later. In 1996 he also became a FIFA Assistant Referee and was appointed to EURO in the same year. In 2007 he reffed the FA Women's Cup Final.

Tony lists the highlights of his career so far as being the linesman in the 1996 FA Cup Final and for the Euro 96 group matches

This will be Tony's second visit to Don Valley as he was here earlier in the season for our game against Darlington. The Millers lost the game 1-0 and there were no cards given out that day.

In the 26 games he has been in charge of this season, he has given out 49 yellow and 3 red cards.
